The ruling of the Federal Labor Court, which was published in December 2022, sets new time recording requirements for German companies: Employers are obliged to introduce a time recording system. What this must look like will be determined by a law on working time recording that is still pending. A first draft was submitted to the federal government in April 2023 and is now being examined.

1. Use the full manpower
Of course, in the end, you are the person who decides which time recording system is introduced in your company. However, you can make the first step - researching - easier by allowing your employees to submit time recording solutions - because there are many of them on the market. Try to look at the product from all sides and make the right decision not only for you, but also for your employees.

5. Establish a positive error culture
Mistakes can easily occur, especially with new work processes. Perhaps one of your employees forgets to clock in during breaks or lets the clock continue running after work. Your employees also have to get used to the new processes, especially if they are not yet used to recording their times. Encourage them to get to grips with the system and do not scold them for small things. Incorrectly clocked times can be corrected later and every minute you invest in training will pay off in the end.
6. Take fears
New tools and changes in everyday working life trigger fear, worry and resistance in some employees. But successful integration of new work processes can only be achieved together.
